My Bebe Love: A Very Commercial Movie In That It Has So Many Commercials

IT’S COMMON knowledge that “My Bebe Love” is originally meant to be a project for the reunion of Vic Sotto and Ai Ai de las Alas in a Metro filmfest entry. But even before they were able to start shooting, the phenomenon that is AlDub came into the picture and they just have to include the hit loveteam of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub aka Maine Mendoza into the cast.

In fairness to writers Bibeth Orteza and Joey Reyes (Joey also directs the movie), “My Bebe Love” does not merely capitalize on the hit love team. The movie still belongs mainly to Vic and Ai Ai as a pair of would be over-the-hill lovers who start on the wrong foot and AlDub gives them major support in a Romeo and Juliet-like love story.

Vic is Vito and Ai Ai is Cora, both heads of rival companies that manage events. Vic nearly runs over Ai Ai who naturally got mad when she falls into an “imburnal” and Vic won’t even apologize. To make matters worse, they fight for a single venue of differents events they handle and Vic wins again.
