AlDub August 12 Eat Bulaga Episode - The Almost Meeting of Cinderella and Her Prince

Maine "Mendoza" finally set feet on Eat Bulaga Broadway Centrum studio on Wednesday, August 12 to join the #BulagaPaMore segment of the show. Hopes about the much-awaited meeting of today's hottest afternoon loveteam were so high that everyone - from offices, school canteen, restaurants, MRT or wherever there's a TV set - tuned in not wanting to miss this monumental event on Philippine afternoon TV.

Then, with what few thought as part of the #Kalyeserye plot, it didn't happen. Why you think so? One Facebook user @ERIKAPAULA gave a very valid reasons:

Relaxxx. Grabe naman kayo magalit sa EB. Hindi sya pinilit tumakbo. Madami dahilan.

1). Hindi nyo ba nagets yung storyline nung presentation ni Yaya? Sbe nung Witch kelangan nya lumabas ng 'kaharian' kundi isusumpa sya. Kaya sya tumakbo.
 2) It looks like pinatakbo sya ng staff kase inalalayan pa sya. Eh kase, yung damit ni yaya need tlaga ng assistance, isa pa pagtapos nya mahimatay, you think hahayaan nila n walang aalalay kay yaya dub?
At sa EB, need nila to take a stand regarding sa use of Social Media. Yung message ni Lola sa una, yun e para i-establish sa mtrcb ang kanilang stand pagdating s ligawan online. Influential sila e, so ganun tlaga. I feel you ka-Aldub Nation. Ramdam ko dissapointment, umiyak din ako e. hehe... pero kudos pa din sa Eat Bulaga Clap! Clap! Clap

"Fashion Pulis" releases statement on libel case

A statement regarding the libel case filed against Michael Sy Lim, the person behind the popular gossip blog Fashion Pulis, was posted on his blog on Wednesday, August 12, 2015.

The libel complaint filed by controversial model Deniece Cornejo, one of those detained in connection with the Vhong Navarro case, led to the arrest of the blogger on Tuesday.

According to the statement released by his legal counsel Atty. Regie Tongol, Lim's "detention was an unfortunate result of a loophole in our criminal justice system, which was taken advantage by some as a means to an end."

The statement further says that Lim has already been released and is ready to face the libel suit. They, however, are yet to see Cornejo's complaint because they "have been deliberately deprived of our right to participate in the preliminary investigation stage."

Here's the full statement:

Adam Sandler, Kevin James and Michelle Monaghan Defenders of Earth Against Alien "Pixels"

To capture the comedy in Columbia Pictures' new action-adventure “Pixels,” the filmmakers brought in an all-star cast of comedic film talent. Adam Sandler (who also produces the film) and Kevin James were tapped to lead the team of unlikely heroes who are called upon to save the world. Joining them are Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan.

The five of them together are just so wonderful,” says director Chris Columbus. “There’s a natural camaraderie and real charisma between the five of them. They truly create a team.

In the film, aliens attack the Earth, using 1980s videogames as the model for their invasion. As US President Cooper (James) calls on Sam Brenner (Sandler) to put together an expert team of Arcaders to help fight the aliens, Brenner tracks down the now-grown men (Gad, Dinklage) who were the champions as kids.

Adam Sandler leads the way as Sam Brenner – once a video game world champion, and now a home theater installer. “Things haven’t quite gone his way over the past 30 years,” says producer Michael Barnathan. “He’s gotten stuck in life. To be honest, it’s starting to seem like there’s only one thing he’s ever been really good at – playing videogames. Fortunately for us all, that one thing is about to come in really handy.”

Kevin James – who has starred opposite Sandler in several films – is called on to play Sandler’s best friend and the President of the United States of America.

With Kevin, we were not only playing against type, we were playing against the comedy,” says Columbus. “Kevin had to have a really strong presence – he had to feel presidential. And he played that role beautifully – when he completed the first scene as President Cooper, I completely believed him. He’s a wonderful actor, and capable of going much deeper than he has in the past.”

In the film, James’ character, Will Cooper, has reached a political low. Everybody thinks all politicians are buffoonish oafs, but the American people really convinced of it with Cooper. “The general public is not a huge fan of my character,” James explains. “He’s not doing a lot of what he said he'd do, and he basically doesn't care. When he sees that the world is being attacked and it looks like videogames, he brings in his friends – who happen to be the greatest videogame players ever.”

You might think it would be difficult for James to act opposite a CG character, but the comedian got a lot of practice. “I replaced my family at home with tennis balls to get used to it,” he says. “They moved out of the house for a month and I replaced them with tennis balls everywhere – one was a Slazenger, one was a Wilson, and one was a Penn. As a parent, you’re always yelling at your kids about something – to eat or wipe or clean up – so I’d just yell at the tennis balls. I got pretty good at it and accustomed to it really quick.”

Opening across the Philippines in August 26, “Pixels” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.

Statement of FashionPulis on the TV Patrol Report

August 11, 2015 marks a significant day in FashionPulis. The issue of libel is part of the life of anyone who is actively involved in media. With the proliferation of blogging as a means to bring the truth and opinions on social issues and entertainment, a blogger has to balance his/her act.

As a democratic country, freedom of speech is a right enjoyed by every citizen. However, our country is still one of the few that consider libel a crime. When someone is accused of libel, he or she can be arrested, detained, and jailed if proven that the article/story has malicious intentions to malign the aggrieved party. One has to undergo the process and trust that justice is blind.

Top journalists, entertainment writers, broadsheets, and networks have been sued for libel for articles/stories that some parties have deemed offensive. Most of these cases drag for years unless settlement has been done by parties early. Sometimes, these cases are dismissed regardless of the duration of hearings.

Sadly, the libel law along with other similar laws is being used to attempt to silence journalists and others engaged in similar professions. Noted writer, Isagani Cruz states, “Even more unfortunately for us Filipinos, however, a libel charge does not have to be justified in order to make journalists tremble in fear.” With libel laws hovering in the midst of media practitioners, still, truth and opinion must prevail. Although, once in a while, a media practioner may stumble, he/she will rise again because the message must be told. The audience awaits and silence out of fear should never prevail.

Thank you, dear readers, for supporting FashionPulis.

Robin Padilla and Maria Ozawa MMFF 2015 Movie "Nilalang" Cancelled

Regretfully, famous Japanese porn star Maria Ozawa's dream of headlining a Pinoy movie will no longer come true, this after Robin Padilla decided to withdraw from the Metro Manila Film Festival 2015 movie entry "Nilalang".

The announcement was made by Robin's manager Betchay Vidanes via a post on Robin's Instagram account @robinhoodpadilla:

Dear __________ This message is to announce to the dear public that Mr. Robin Padilla and my team Vidanes Celebrity Marketing will no longer be part of the movie ‘Nilalang’, which was scheduled to compete in the annual Metro Manila Film Festival in December 2015. It is with great regret that we have to inform all that due to extenuating personal circumstances, Mr. Robin Padilla has had to make the decision to withdraw from the film. I would like to let you know that this decision making process has been very hard as Mr. Padilla's reputation shows that he has the highest regards for those he commits to work with. But his withdrawal is due to the fact of needing to attend to his wife Mariel, as she is experiencing a delicate pregnancy. Mariel is currently pregnant with triplets, and also suffered a miscarriage in March of this year. Due to this, Mr. Padilla feels that he needs to focus and prioritize the wellbeing of his family and has decided to forego his role as Tony in the movie Nilalang. The decision to withdraw from the film has been very difficult for Mr. Padilla and VCM team. This cancellation has been a collective resolution of Vidanes Celebrity Marketing and Mr. Padilla and Haunted Tower Productions are not at fault in any way. We acknowledge that we hold no claims or rights to this movie whether it is produced or not. On behalf of Mr. Robin Padilla and Vidanes Celebrity Marketing, we would like to ask to the producers and the public for their understanding and kind consideration. Yours sincerely, Betchay Vidanes On behalf Of Robin Padilla

The MFT Group of Companies, of which Nilalang's production company Haunted Tower Pictures is part of, through its publicist Joyce Ramirez, said that they will no longer finance the production of Nilalang.

The MFT Group does not believe that there is a suitable replacement for Mr. Padilla and as a result, the prospective timeline for the production of Nilalang will be compromised.”

“Given the proposed working budget for the film, the non-participation of Mr. Padilla means that MFT (being the main funding partner of Haunted Tower Pictures) no longer believes that the project has a bankable actor as its lead and the absence of immediate alternative means that the production will be delayed to an extent that Nilalang will not be released in time for the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival.”

The withdrawal of  "Nilalang" leaves two reserve films - "Conman" starring John Lloyd Cruz and Lovi Poe's "Lakambini" to be the possible movie replacement. However, the Metro Manila Development Authority, which organizes the MMFF, has yet to make a statement regarding the replacement for "Nilalang."
