CinemaOne to Air First Original Cable Series “Single\Single” Starring Shaina Magdayao and Matteo Guidicelli
Shaina Magdayao and Matteo Guidicelli are teaming up for the first time in an original cable TV series that merges engaging comedy and relevant issues for the urban singles living in a complicated, modern world on Cinema One this August 29, Saturday at 8PM.
“Single\Single”, Cinema One and The Philippine Star’s first project, is the cable channel’s first TV series that focuses on issues ranging from quarter-life crises to relationship dilemmas in a digital world. More importantly, the series aims to underscore the importance of handling finances, career path planning, and having a work-life balance for the urban millennial.
The series follows the story of Joee (Shaina) and Joey (Matteo), two single strangers who will exchange sparks or non-sparks as an odd couple forced to share an apartment for practical reasons and tries to answer the question, “when strangers have no choice but to share the rent, will it be a disaster or a happy ever after?”
As a first of its kind project on Philippine cable TV, “Single\Single” combines the power of cable and print media to talk to Filipino millennials about how to cope as a single individual in an entertaining format. Each week after an episode airs on Cinema One, in-depth discussion about wealth management will be provided in the Philippine Star’s Business Lifestyle section by wealth management expert and inspirational speaker, Francis Kong.
The show’s lead stars also serve as role models to millennials. Shaina, who grew up in showbiz, is one of the many young celebrities who has managed her finances well. She owns several business ventures, including a salon and a summer camp for kids. Meanwhile, Matteo who hails from Cebu, also has a background in entrepreneurship as his family has established businesses in his hometown.

ABS-CBN's Net Income Up by 20%, National Audience Share Hits All-Time High
ABS-CBN Corporation, the country’s leading media and entertainment company, reported PHP17.7 billion consolidated revenues for the first half of 2015, bringing its net income to PHP1.2 billion, 20% higher compared to the same period last year. The company reported higher second quarter revenues of PHP9.3 billion, 11% higher than the revenues generated during the first quarter of this year.
“Our performance during the first half was well within our expectations,” said Aldrin M. Cerrado, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. “We disclosed a guidance of PHP2.4 billion for 2015 and we are about half way there.”
He added that Channel 2 has extended its dominance in terms of national audience shares and ratings with a 52% national audience share at end of June 2015.
According to Kantar Media, the top ten programs for the first half in 2015 for free-to-air television were all produced by ABS-CBN. The company will further boost its audience share once it improves the reception of channel 2 in the Mega Manila area and Central Luzon.
Star Cinema also turned in a very good performance at the box office with PHP1.4 billion in ticket sales generated from the release of 8 movies.
“Consistent with our push towards growing our broadband business, Sky’s broadband subscriber growth has been very strong, increasing by 30% to over 115,000, while our Global business now reaches around 3 million of our fellow Kapamilya overseas,” Cerrado said.
There were also significant margin expansion in the company’s TV and Studio Operations, with our net income margin and EBITDA margin for the segment improving from 11% to 15% and 25% to 27%, respectively.

Enchong Dee who entered the famous PBB house as a celebrity guest has left the Pinoy Big Brother House Wednesday, August 12 after staying as a guest housemate for 3 weeks.
During the last night of the 26-year-old Enchong Dee inside the PBB house, the famous Big Brother (Kuya) released a words of encouragement for the actor.
Big Brother was quoted as saying "Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa iyo sa pagbibigay mo ng iyong oras, ng iyong talento, at ng iyong kuwento hindi lang sa mga teen housemates. Pati na rin sa mga adult housemates," Big Brother told Dee.

Watch: On The Wings of Love - August 10 Pilot Episode Full Video
On The Wings of Love, the light romantic drama starring the blockbuster tandem of James Reid and Nadine Lustre #JaDine, aired its twitter-tending pilot episode on Monday, August 10.
The pilot episode opens with a voice over of Leah saying that if you let a bird go, it will come back to you if it truly loves you. We see Leah's mom, Rona (Isay Alvarez), announcing to the Olivar family, composed of Tatang Sol (Joel Torre), Leah and older sister Tiffany, that she has gotten her papers to work in the US. She tells Leah that she will take them to San Francisco, where she will work one day.
Months after her mother’s move to the US, the family received bad news: Rona died in an accident and due to to financial problems could not bring back her remains in the country. Since then, Leah promised herself that she will go to the US to visit her mom’s grave.
Fast forward to the present, a grown up Leah goes to the US Embassy to present her documents for an American visa along with her boyfriend Jiggs and members of her school’s chorale. After explaining that she wants to go to the US to visit her mom’s grave and for the chorale, Leah is granted a visa, while Jiggs was denied. Leah then goes home to tell her family the good news.
On the way home, she stops by the house they used to live in. She meets her neighbors who are preparing for Santacruzan. Her sister Tiffany appears with her daughter and persistent suitor Tolayts. When one of their neighbors ask Tiffany if she can be their Reyna Elena, she declines.
After arriving at home, Leah announces that she has gotten her American visa to the delight of her family. Leah also reminds her father about his health condition, and he assures them that he was okay. Jiggs drops by and shares how mad he is about being denied a visa. When Leah does not answer, Jiggs makes her choose between the US or him – Leah doesn't answer, prompting Jiggs break to break up with her.
Meanwhile, Clark, Jiggs' cousin, officially takes his oath with other immigrants, swearing his loyalty and abiding the laws of the US. Clark works as a bellboy in a hotel along with his friend Denzel (Thou Reyes). Clark calls his grandma Lola Ima (Nanette Inventor) and his siblings. Jiggs, who is in a bad mood after his break up with Leah, abruptly says he is tired and leaves after Clark asks how he is.
Back at the Olivars, Leah runs to her sister Tiffany as she cries over her break up with Jiggs. Tiffany tells her sister: “Ang mga ganyang lalake, kinakalimutan iyan.” (Those kinds of boys, just forget them.)
It was also during the talk with her sister that Leah says she wants to work in the US. Tiffany replies that it is a risk to be a TNT (Tago nang Tago or someone who is staying in a country illegally). Mang Sol overhears this and is against the idea, saying he would rather have her stay then lose her like what happened to their mother. Leah, on the other hand, told her father she only wants to help the family and get their house back.
After much thinking, Sol allows Leah to go to the US on the condition she stays there legally.
Leah then flies to San Francisco with her chorale group. Excited that she has finally arrived in the US, Leah unintentionally bumps into Clark face to face while walking along the street. [End of first episode] - Source: Alexa Villano, Rappler.com

KathNiel and JaDine love teams have always been pitted against each other by their outspoken fans. And now, their shows are aired back-to-back on ABS-CBN's primetime block.
"Okay lang sa akin 'yun. Walang problema sa akin 'yun. Tayo ay magkaka-network. Dapat tayo ay magtulungan," he said in an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com
Daniel went on by saying that he is happy knowing that "Pangako Sa 'Yo" continuously getting high ratings.
"Tulong 'yan sa ating cast and crew and staff, lahat ng bumubuo ng 'Pangako Sa 'Yo at sa lahat ng supporters natin," he said.
