HELEN GAMBOA is back into acting playing the role of Marian Rivera's grandmother named Lolita Honorio in the new GMA-7 primetime show, "Super Ma'am". It will be recalled that she was offered to do a show a couple of years ago but she begged off due to health reasons.
"It's because of slipped disc," she says. "But it's okay now after I had therapy. Kaya nga dalawa pa ang shows ko. Aside from 'Super Ma'am', I also hosting my own cooking show, 'From Helen's Kitchen', on Cignal TV. Ito naman 'Super Ma'am', tinanggap ko agad when they offered it to me kasi Marian is my inaanak sa kasal. Now, I'm enjoying taping with her and the rest of the cast three times a week, along with our young director, L.A. Madridejos."
Direk L.A. says Helen is such a joy to work with. "Lagi siyang maraming baong pagkain sa set tuwing may taping at puro masasarap kaya lagi kaming busog na lahat."
In the story, Marian has an encounter with mythical evil creatures called Tamawo. What she doesn't know is that it's her Lola Lolita who first had a fight with a Tamawo many years ago. "Si Carmina Villaroel ang naging mentor ko on how to fight the Tamawo," says Helen. "Now, babalik siya sa present time para si Marian naman ang turuan niya kung paano labanan ang mga ito, led by Jackielou Blanco as the evil queen ng mga Tamawo."
Helen's marriage to Sen. Tito Sotto is one of the most stable and durable in showbizlandia since they've been married for 46 years now. And counting. "Super Ma'am" will start airing beginning this Monday on GMA Telebabad.
