RAFAEL ROSELL plays the role of Oliver in “Because of You”, the photographer who became a runaway groom when he decided to dump his bride, Carla Abellana, right on their wedding day in GMA-7’s hit primetime soap, “Because of You”.

“I’m enjoying this show kasi very relaxed ang atmosphere namin sa set,” he says. “I look forward to each taping day kasi I love working with Carla Abellana, Gabby Concepcion, Yia Villania and the rest of the cast. Ang ganda ng team work naming lahat at laging puno ng good vibes ang set kaya nakakatuwa dahil hindi kami parang nagtratrabaho but we’re just having a good time with each other. This is very important kasi, kung hindi ka happy sa mga kasama mo, mai-stress ka lang at nakakatamad mag-taping.”

Angel Locsin On Working With Future Mother-In-Law Gov. Vilma Santos

ANGEL LOCSIN confesses that she’s a big fan of the mom of her BF Luis Manzano, Gov. Vilma Santos. “Starstruck ako sa shooting ng movie naming ‘Everything About Her’,” she says. “Kasi fan niya talaga ako. At first, I asked our director, Joyce Bernal, kaya ko ba? Baka hindi ako makapag-react nang tama kapag kaeksena ko na siya? Buti na lang talaga nakatutok sa’kin si Direk Joyce para ikorek ako sa mga nakagawian kong proceso sa pag-arte. So ibang atake naman ang ginawa ko rito with Tita Vi. I consider myself na napakasuwerte ko to be given the chance to work with her. I learned so much about life and tungkol din sa pagiging artista. She’s a joy to work with. Masaya kami sa set kapag kasama siya kasi sobrang bait niya, on and off cam, not just to me but to everyone else na kasama sa shooting. Laging nagpapakain, magiliw sa lahat, setting a good example dahil hindi pinapakita kahit pagod na siya. Lagi rin siyang may dalang maraming dyaryo sa set kaya nababasa niya lahat ng mga sinusulat nyo about her.”

Is it true that despite her earlier statement that she can no longer do “Darna” due to some health issues, some quarters are still tapping her to play the coveted role? “Hindi ko po alam. Ako raw po ba? But you know kung gaano ko talaga kamahal ang project na yan. Kaya lang, nagpapagaling pa ako. I have to protect my health kasi gusto kong magka-baby pa in the future. Tatapusin ko lang ang premiere night ng ‘Everything About Her’ that opens on January 27 and also yung block screenings then babalik ako sa Singapore para sa second phase ng medical procedure na ginagawa sa spine. It’s laser with ten injections sa nerves and disc ko.”

A photo showing her and her dad with Luis and his family circulated on the net and there were speculations that Luis and Ate Vi made “pamanhikan” to formally ask her hand from her dad. “Naku, hindi po pamanhikan yun. Wala pa sa plano namin ni Luis ang magpakasal.”

Who among Nadine Lustre, Liza Soberano, and Jessy Mendiola is the fittest to play Darna? Direk Erik Matti gives his insights.

Erik Matti, who will be directing the remake of Darna under Star Cinema, said in an interview with DZMM on January 16 that management is still looking for a replacement for Angel Locsin as the Philippine heroine. Angel had to back out of the project due to her health.

Director Erik said that he suggested that management hold auditions for the role since it would require intensive physical preparations.

“Gusto ko makita kung kakayanin ng artista. Kasi ang hirap na ngayon mag-double. Dati, mga five years ago, puwede pa mag-double sa eksena. Pero ngayon mahirap na with all the Hollywood films that come out where all the actors really prepare for the role. Gusto namin mag-audition,” he said.

“Ang burden nitong Darna na latest is over the past five years, na-bombard na tayo ng Marvel. Mahirap siya execution-wise na kung paano lang din yung dati,” he added.

Ever since the short teaser for Darna was released during the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) when films All You Need Is Pag-ibig and Beauty and the Bestie were shown, people began speculating that Liza Soberano, Nadine Lustre or Jessy Mendiola could be the next Darna.

Matti shared his insights on the three actresses.

“Si Liza (Soberano), yes puwede. She has the strength physically, 'yung itsura at katawan. And then tama 'yung edad and you can do a lot of things sa mukha niya. Puwede siya mag-iba-iba ng itsura and she could still look really good. At the same time, Pinay siya na maganda, pan-Asian. Mahirap 'yung mestiza eh,” he shared.

For Nadine, he said, “Okay din naman si Nadine. Hindi ko pa siya nakikita personal. Hindi ko pa nakikita kung gaano siya katangkad ngayon. Kasi I’ve done two commercials with her a year ago. Hindi ko lang alam kung ang height niya ay tama.”

“Si Jessy has the built. Maputi lang siya masyado. Personal ko ito na comment ha, hindi ito comment ng ABS-CBN. Maputi lang masyado si Jessy. Pinay dapat,” he commented.

In addition, he also commented on the idea of 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach portraying the role of Darna.

“Si Pia, alam niyo bagay na bagay si Pia pero in the history of Darna, hindi talaga umuubra 'yung beauty queen kasi kailangan mo talaga ng regular Pinay woman. Ordinaryo lang na character. Hindi siya kailangan vavavoom, hindi kailangan na stunning.”

ABS-CBN has not yet released an official date for Darna.
