OPM's Next Singing Superstars Introduce in the Second Season of "McJim Dreams Get Real" Talent Search

After a series of eliminations at different malls across the Metro, 10 extremely talented hopefuls recently entered the semi-finals of the second season of “Dreams Get Real: The Search for the Next OPM Star” by authentic leather brand McJim Classic Leather.

Through this exciting competition, McJim Classic Leather will once again give undiscovered Filipino talents the platform to be heard and boost Original Pilipino Music (OPM) with fresh voices.

After launching the careers of three of the most promising acts today - Dreams Get Real Season 1 champions Fifth Dynamics, JBK, and Neo Domingo--McJim continues to enliven the local music by giving aspiring artists the opportunity to kick-start their own musical journey.

The level of competition this season is mind blowing! Each one of them is very unique and has something different to offer. During the eliminations, we really had a hard time picking the top ten,” said Chris Cahilig, Dreams Get Real project head, who was also happy to note that “the high degree of talents made this season’s event bigger, brighter, and better.”

From hundreds of entries, an initial pool of 20 contestants was chosen to perform in the mall eliminations. Eight mall elimination winners and two wild cards comprised of the final 10, which will then filmed viral videos to be posted on the official Facebook and Youtube accounts of McJim Classic Leather.  The top three most viewed videos and three promising talents to be handpicked by the organizer will face off in an epic grand finals night on November 9, 2015 at the Music Museum.

At this point, the participants shall have aptly demonstrated their talent, but we’re looking for someone who also has star quality,” Cahilig explained. “I believe that with proper guidance, a star will emerge in the group.

The 10 finalists come from different walks of life - students, freelance singers, and professionals, among others. A lot of them acknowledged that the intensity they felt in our competition made it quite different from the competitions they had joined in the past.

The grand champion of “Dreams Get Real: The Search for the Next OPM Star” will receive a full album and music video grant; P100,000 in cash prize from McJim Classic Leather; artist marketing support; and a talent management contract.

Mother Lily Focuses On The Four New Films Regal Entertainment Is Releasing & Not On The Presidential Election

MOTHER LILY Monteverde is asking for prayers for her son Goldwyn who figured in an accident recently that broke all the toes on both his feet. “He was operated on for four hours and his feet are now in a cast,” she tells us at the Wednesday Club dinner meeting at Benito’s which is right beside her hotel, Imperial Palace. “Kawawa naman so please help us pray for him to get well soon.”

When Mother Lily celebrated her 76th birthday recently at her Valencia Events Place, little did she know that it will be controversial because presidential candidate Mar Roxas appeared there to greet her with wife Korina Sanchez. Because of this, some rival quarters are now sore at her. “You know, the truth is I didn’t invite anyone except the entertainment press na good friends ko,” she says. “Hindi ko alam na marami palang ibang pupunta roon. Alangan namang paalisin ko sila. And besides, friend ko naman si Mar. When I was in the hospital for my lung operation, he came to visit me with Pres. Noynoy. And his mom has been my friend for so many years now. Pero hindi ko alam na dahil doon, sasama ang loob ng ibang tao sa akin. All I can say is malayo pa naman ang election. Marami pang puedeng mangyari, so huwag muna sila mag-jump into conclusions kung sino ang susuportahan ko. As of now, busy ako kasi ang daming bagong movies ng Regal na sunod-sunod naming ipalalabas. Nandun muna ang focus ko, sa promotion nila.”

First to be released this September is “Resureksiyon”, a shocking horror flick starring Isabelle Diaz, Jasmine Curtis Smith and Paulo Avelino.

Yam Concepcion Sizzles as FHM's September 2015 Cover Girl

Yam Concepcion made a come-back, appearing once again on the cover of FHM Philippines this September 2015.

Yam's last posed for FHM was almost three years ago(October 2012).

In an interview, Concepcion shared the lessons she learned from the entertainment industry since Erik Matti's 2012 erotic thriller 'Rigodon" help launch her as a sexy actress.

"Ngayon I'm more comfortable being in a studio. I'm more myself," Yam said. "Kasi sometimes when you're in front of a camera, you're not being yourself. Sa utak mo, sasabihin mo yung gustong marinig ng ibang tao, or to please other people, or to make a good impression."

"But now it’s so much different. I guess I just show my real self. This is who I am. Kung masaya ako, masaya ako. Kung ayaw ko, ayaw ko. I’m more open now," she added.

[Commentary] Kiko’s ‘Hashima Island’ photos; are Koreans being too harsh?

Author’s note: Statements given below are my personal opinion. No harm intended just free expression.

They really got this hateful blood towards Kiko.

Kiko Mizuhara is once again the subject of Korean netizens hostility for her controversial Hashima Island photos.

Just recently, she has angered the netizens with her photo wearing a t-shirt with bold F*** written on it. However, netizens today are on rage as month-old photos of  Kiko taken at Hashima Island are published and comments calling her ‘crazy’, ‘bitch’, and other malicious statement like “don’t ever go back to Korea” are pouring in.

Is Kiko really shameless or a victim of unfairly harsh treatment?
Let’s ponder on this.

Why is it controversial? – Hashima Island or Battleship Island has recently included as UNESCO World Heritage site this July. For Koreans, the island bears painful sentiments as many of their fellows died in there and were forced laborers during Japanese’ colonial rule.

What is Kiko doing in Hashima Island? – Actually, it’s not only Kiko, but the rest of the cast of her starring film “Attack on Titan” were there. In fact, the island was used as one of the major filming locations for the said film and the cast and director held a film conference in early July.

Why is it brought up now? – The photos were not controversial until ‘Infinity Challenge’ aired its August 29th episode showing Yoo Jae Suk and Haha at the Island bowing and paying respects to the souls of Koreans who died in there.

I admit that Kiko is not innocent and has caused Korean netizens’ disgust not only once but is that enough to be subjected to this reflexive loathing? She’s not even swearing, making faces or posing indecently in the photos. She is one of the leading cast in the film and has just taken photo at their filming site like the rest.

In addition, majority despise Kiko for having Korean descent but during controversial issues like this, netizens tend remind her that they share ancestors. Really what? Where is Kiko going to situate herself?

Feel free to generate discussion.
