“It’s about time. Kumbaga, nung una kong pasok ng showbiz, inaabangan ko yan e, na makapareha ko siya. Kasi parang hindi pwedeng hindi,” she told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and members of the press at the set of “Legacy” in Timberland Heights, San Mateo, Rizal last Friday, March 23.
The 25-year-old just signed a three-year exclusive contract with GMA-7 earlier this month. She will star with Richard and Sarah Lahbati in the upcoming primetime drama “Makapiling Kang Muli.” Carla’s last project with the network was the afternoon soap opera “Kung Agawin Mo ang Langit” with Mike Tan and Michelle Madrigal.
“(Richard) is really one of the ultimate leading men in the industry tapos lumagpas yung first three years ko na hindi ko man lang siya nakatrabaho,” Carla shared. “So parang buena mano sa akin. Kaka-renew ko lang, Richard Gutierrez na soap opera.”
‘Bigger and better’
Before she renewed her contract, Carla was reportedly considering her options outside GMA-7. So the actress is thankful because the Kapuso network understood why she had to take her time.
“Naging very patient naman ang GMA sa amin because I know it took a while also na pinag-isipan namin ng mabuti. So thankful ako na naging patient sila sa akin.”
When it comes to her compensation under the new contract, Carla quipped, “Hindi naman sobrang laki pero compared to the first contract, it’s bigger and better.”
On marriage
Carla was at the set of “Legacy” to visit boyfriend Geoff Eigenmann, who was celebrating his 27th birthday that day.
The two have been in a relationship for more than a year. Are they already talking about settling down?
“Hindi pa. Mas napag-uusapan ng ibang tao kaysa yung kaming dalawa lang. Pero yung just the two of us, hindi talaga,” she said. “Madali namang mag-imagine. Pero ayaw mo namang isipin masyado kasi baka ma-udlot. Imbes na mag-imagine ka, mag-concentrate ka sa reality.”
Carla revealed that she thought she’ll be married by the time she’s 27 or 28. However, with the way things are going for hers and Geoff’s career, Carla feels “mauurong yun.”
“It’s too soon now that I’m nearing that age. Parang ang lapit na pala,” she said.
