Piolo Pascual was all set for his curtain call prior to
starting work on "Starting Over Again." He, in fact, considered the
film his swan song.
"I was seriously considering quitting (showbiz) this year pero, when the movie became a big hit, I said the joke is on me. I guess hindi pa po time para umalis ako sa showbiz," the hunk shared in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
"Starting Over Again," which also stars Toni Gonzaga and Iza Calzado, has grossed P375 million in three weeks.
An emotional Piolo expressed gratefulness to fans during the thanksgiving party for the film held on Tuesday, saying, "Thank you for always being there para sabihin sa akin na huwag akong tanga at huwag ko isipin na umalis kasi hindi ko talaga alam. This was hard for me. Inayos ko na ang buhay ko. I was ready to settle down in the States. This could be my last. Maraming salamat sa tiwala kasi hindi ko talaga alam na aabot ako dito."
The 37-year-old revealed that his son is among factors that made him consider quitting showbiz.
"I wanted to devote more time sa anak ko. Para bago man lang maging adult ang bata, I can give him more time physically. That's one of the factors and parang gusto ko rin naman magpahinga, so iyon... Sometimes kailangan natin pagtuunan ng pansin ang ibang bagay para hindi tayo tumanda na may na-miss out tayo," Piolo explained in a separate PEP interview.
Piolo said Iñigo didn't agree with his plan. "(Sabi niya) 'You can't quit yet because I still wanna see you on TV.' Sabi ko, 'Ano ka ba naman, I wanna do this for you yet ayaw mo.'"
With this, Piolo deemed it "a sign."
"There are some things na out of our control. I was planning something else, but I guess ABS-CBN had a different plan. God had a different plan kaya sabay na lang tayo sa agos," he added.
"I thought kaya kong tuldukan, hindi pa pala. Bahala na ang Diyos, bahala na ang ABS-CBN. Happy ako, sobra."
