Hosts Vice Ganda and Jhong Hilario plucked two males from the audience to participate in the Flip Top challenge. Flip Top is a rap battle that usually plays with words in a most creative way.
There were three pairs of challengers and the third one surprised everyone in the studio as one of the contestants uttered the local term for a male’s private part.
A teen boy took the challenge and said to his opponent, who may only be a little older, "Fliptop ka nang Fliptop, hindi ka marunong mag-laptop. Ito’ng piso, pambili mo ng lollipop."
The boy elicited boisterous applause from the audience.
Immediately, his opponent wailed back and said, “’Di ka naman marunong mag-fliptop, wala kang laptop, isubo mo...ko, gawin mong lollipop.”
The audience was stunned and the boy was immediately whisked off the studio.
As reported by Mykiru Isyusero on the same day the controversy happened, “Vice Ganda pulled the guy's hair and scolded him, ‘Sinabi ko nang walang bad words!’ And the guy was escorted out of "Showtime" studio as consequence.
“The hosts led by Vice Ganda later apologized for the incident, after the show went back from a commercial break,” the blogsite said.
The first Flip Top pair proved to be a dud as they lacked substance when they traded barbs on air.
“Ano ka ba, ha? Ano ‘yang nasa tenga mo, ha? Parang Christmas tree lang, ha. Sabagay malapit na ang Pasko,” said the first guy.
The second guy responded, “Naiinggit ka lang kasi mas pogi ako sa ‘yo?”
“Sa’n, sa’n? Sa pwet ko?” the first contestant wailed, then he apologize for uttering the Tagalog word for butt. “Sorry, sorry, sorry,” he said.
This prompted Vice to remind them what Flip Top is all about.
“Flip Top ha, alam mo ‘yan ha. Ang Flip Top ay balagtasan, ‘yung nagtatagisan sa pamamagitan ng salita,” he said to the contestants.
Then, the second pair was called on stage.
“‘Pre, ang cute ng tighiyawat mo. ‘Di ko matiis, puwede patiris,” said the second Flip Top contestant.
“Bakit ikaw hindi mo ba puwedeng tirisin ang tighiyawat mo?” the second guy countered.
This is not the first time that the show got embroiled in a controversy. In 2010, former sexy actress Rosanna Roces who was one of the hurados, had everyone in great shock when she lambasted teachers. Although she publicly apologized, the show meted suspension from the MTRCB. By wanderer || Full Story: Kapamilyalogy
