“It’s a Visayan movie but may English subtitles. It’s about the story of our life na may hardship na we can be happy as long as believe in ourselves. Iiyak po kayo, tatawa kayo, magandang story,” Nonito said in an interview on “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Monday, October 22.
The first-time actor admits feeling pressured about being one of the few local boxers who are trying their hand in acting.
Not his world
“There’s a lot of pressure because this is not my world. Going into shows already makes me nervous. The pressure was there especially during the first (shooting day). Everybody did a great job,” Nonito said in a separate interview in “Headstart.”
Nonito said the movie tells the story of of boxers who work hard to reach their goals. Nonito’s co-stars are veteran actress Gloria Sevilla, comedian Garry Lim and character actor Mon Confiado.
“Sometimes, we don’t get what we pray for and we get sad about it. But with proper faith, it sometimes works out. With what God has given us, if we can keep on reminding ourselves with that dream, we’ll be able to reach it,” the champion boxer said.
Nonito praised Japanese boxer Toshiaki Nishioka, whom he recently defeated in a super bantamweight bout.
“True to their Japanese spirit, nung na-knock down ko siya, parang all or nothing ang nasa isip niya,” Nonito observed.
